Mastery Overview

Slime Seas offers four weapon masteries that define your combat kit: Katana, Greatsword, Scythe, and Berserker (gamepass-gated). Each mastery has unique stances, technique trees, and gear scaling. Unlike races, mastery selection is made early and reinforced through technique rerolls from codes like LIKES25K (2 technique rerolls). Choose based on your progression phase and whether you own the Berserker gamepass.

Katana ranks S-tier for levels 0–90 (Starter Island through early Dunes). Greatsword ranks S-tier for levels 90–255 (Sinbad through Ogre Lord). Scythe ranks A-tier for mob-dense Goblin Ruins farming. Katana — S-Tier Early Game

Katana delivers the fastest attack speed and strongest mobility of free masteries. Combo chains build damage quickly against Demon Lord Rima's 4,000 HP pool and Crimson Ruins mobs at level 30. Slime Katana (1.77% Rima drop) is the first chase weapon — Katana mastery multiplies its on-hit effects better than Greatsword or Scythe.

Technique tree priority: invest in combo extension nodes before raw damage for early levels when base stats are low. Katana remains viable through Sinbad but falls behind Greatsword burst at level 160 when Thornblade drops favor heavy hit scaling.

Tier placement: S-tier (levels 0–160 PvE), A-tier (160–255), B-tier (255+ unless using Monarch's Scythe hybrid builds). PvP: A-tier for outplay mobility.

Greatsword — S-Tier Mid Game

Greatsword mastery peaks during The Dunes and Goblin Ruins progression. King Sinbad (level 160, 15,000 HP) drops Thornblade specifically for Greatsword builds. Copper Novice and Thorn armor sets scale with Greatsword stance bonuses. Single-target burst deletes boss HP bars faster than Katana combos once gear catches up.

Ogre Lord wields Doomblade (Greatsword, 0.51% drop) — the premier mid-late chase weapon before Shadow World. Ogre Horns at 41.58% feed Blacksmith crafting for Steel Adventurer sets that further amplify Greatsword damage. Technique priority shifts toward charge attacks and stance break nodes.

Tier placement: B-tier (levels 0–65), A-tier (65–160), S-tier (160–360+). PvP: A-tier for trade-heavy playstyles.

Scythe & Berserker

Scythe (A-tier): Wide sweeping attacks excel at Goblin Ruins mob density (Islands 7–9, levels 190–255) and Shadow World add phases during Monarch Statue fights. Monarch's Scythe (0.51% Ogre Lord drop) is the signature Scythe chase weapon. Lower single-target DPS than Greatsword on pure boss races but faster zone leveling when clearing packs. PvP: B-tier in 1v1, A-tier in group brawls.

Berserker (S-tier end-game, gamepass): Highest burst windows for Monarch Statue trio raids (300,000 HP). Requires gamepass purchase — test free masteries through Ogre Lord before buying. Synergizes with Dragonborn race and Igris armor (4.2% helmet, 2.8% greaves, 1.4% chestplate from Monarch). Technique tree favors rage stacks and execute thresholds.
